Environmental sustainability.

Promoting the environmental sustainability is the specific objective of Axis 2, implementing a series of initiatives identified consistently with the strategies defined by the Lisbon and Göteborg Council.
The presence of two natural parks and twelve natural reserves on the regional territories is an element that highly qualifies Friuli Venezia Giulia Region under a naturalistic and environmental perspective. The natural heritage, particularly the one belonging to areas included in the Nature 2000 Network (composed by 57 SIC and 7 ZPS) must be accurately protected and valorized as an opportunity of social and economic development of the region. Valorizing these resources in a more effective and efficient way represents a basic condition to get a better life quality, a correct management of the territory and to address the socio-economic system towards a greater environmental sustainability and production, consumption and research models able to create an economic and employment spin-off of environmental divisions.
